To boldly go... No, hold on, wrong space franchise. Maybe one day we'll have a Spock minifigure, but for now we'll make do with a wookie.

In a galaxy, far, far, away. That's better! The world's most popular toy brand, LEGO, meets the world's most popular movie world, Star Wars. LEGO Star Wars has been a huge range for brick builders - what's not to love?

LEGO Star Wars

For many years the galaxy has been under attack from the Sith or Dark Jedi who use the Force (an ever-present energy) for evil and who have gone to the dark side. The Jedi are committed to using the Force for good and therefore defend the galaxy, its planets and inhabitants from these attacks. The resulting battles have given us Star Wars.

Immortalised first through film, with LEGO Star Wars toys you can recreate the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, C-3PO and R2D2 as they take on Anakin Skywalker (aka Darth Vader). There are some amazing LEGO Star Wars sets to choose from with incredible detail and ingenious features, and being LEGO you can always change things about a bit to come up with new adventures for the Jedi with ever more challenging threats to the inhabitants of the Galactic Empire. The battle between good and evil continues.

Vehicles and ships

With space travel the main way to get about the galaxy some of the best LEGO Star Wars toys are vehicles enabling you to fly your characters between planets: vital for saving the planet Naboo, visiting Tatooine or taking on the Sith in space battles.  The classic X-Wing fighter is a good place to start with its folding wings, torpedoes and an opening cockpit allowing you to fly with Luke Skywalker and R2-D2. It even comes with a lightsaber.

There is also the stunning Millennium Falcon with its opening hull plates, twin flick missiles, and a cockpit cover you can remove to really get in and take control. As part of the set there are great LEGO Star Wars minifigures too including Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Ben Kenobi, Princess Leia Organa and, not forgetting, Darth Vader.

For those on the dark side there are also fabulous craft to choose from: there is General Grevious’ Starfighter which presents a formidable force with its hidden firing missiles and a secret lair for our villain. Not only does the set contain the LEGO minifigures of General Grevious and the Jedi Knight Nahdar Vebb, but also his trusty droid A4-D. Or what about using a LEGO Star Wars set to recreate the Battle for Geonosis? The Separatist proton cannon complete with missile launcher leads the droid army into the key battle during the Clone Wars.

LEGO Death Star

But if you really want to go to the heart of the Star Wars adventures there is the incredible LEGO Star Wars Death Star set. It features the Death Star control room, Emperor’s throne room, a hangar for the TIE Advanced Starfighter and the powerful Death Star superlaser. Its five decks are packed with detail and will be the centre of many a Star Wars adventure. It also comes with a staggering 25 LEGO Star Wars minifigures and droids.

Tinsel on Tatooine

For a festive twist on the Star Wars theme there is even a LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar. Each day there is a new box to open with something to build. Perfect for anyone eagerly waiting to see whether Santa will be delivering any more LEGO Star Wars toys and for fending off any attacks from the Dark Side which might prevent him from arriving on time.
